French Toast Topped with Caramelized Bananas

For one person – Serving size: 2 French toasts

  • 2 slices soft brown bread
  • 1 egg
  • ½ glass milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter

For the banana caramel sauce:

  • 1 banana (sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Mix together egg, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Mix until completely blended.

Put the butter in a skillet and let it melt on medium heat. In the meantime, soak one slice of bread in the mixture and flip it over. (Be careful not to soak it for a long time, otherwise it’ll get too soggy). Place it into the skillet. Let it cook for about 2 minutes and flip it on the other side as soon as the bread turns golden brown.

When both sides are cooked, remove the bread from the pan and place it on a serving plate.

When the bread is cooking, you can start to prepare the caramel sauce. Heat up another skillet (medium-low heat) and place brown sugar and butter inside. When the butter is melted and blended together with brown sugar, you can add the sliced banana and cook it on both sides until golden brown.

Pour the caramel banana sauce on your French toast and serve it hot.

Enjoy your breakfast!
