Apple Pie

The apple pie is the traditional American cake made with Granny Smith apples, a cake that dates back to the settlers and that in the US today is such a cultural icon that it’s commonly called American Pie.

If you used to read Mickey Mouse magazine, you all probably remember Grandma Duck baking her famous apple pies so here’s a recipe of this delicious and healthy (because the recipe below is the vegan version) cake.




For the Pie Crost

  • 400gr flour (I used a mix among wholemeal flour with seeds, rice flour and white flour)
  • 100gr olive oil
  • 150gr cold water
  • 60gr brown sugar

For the stuffing

  • 6 or 8 apples (depends on the dimension, I used 7 apples)
  • 1 lemon
  • Almonds
  • 60gr brown sugar
  • Cinnamon



Mix all the flour with the oil

Add the sugar and mix it all together doing crumbs

Add gradually cold water

Now the pie crost is done! It should be really soft and not sticky.

Put the pie crost in the fridge until the stuffing is ready.

Cut the apples and put them into a bowl with the lemon juice, add as much cinnamon and almonds in pieces as you prefer and mix everything.

Back to the pie crost: you have to divide it into two pieces (one for the base of the pie and the other one for the top). Roll each half into a disc and put the first one in the baking tin, then fill it with the stuffing and cover everything with the other disc.

Remember to make some cuts on the top of the pie to allow the vapors to exit.

Bake the pie in the oven at 180°C for 40 minutes.

TASTE IT with a vanilla ice-cream ball!!
